Import duty on cotton removed

The Cotton Textile Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL) said the central government has removed the import duty on cotton under HS Code 52010025. This cotton is described as ‘Other: of staple length exceeding 32.0 mm’.

TEXPROCIL had been asking the government to remove the 11 per cent import duty on cotton since November 2022. The Council said the decision will help make exports of value-added products more competitive.
