India rice export prices reach one-year high

India’s rice export prices have reached their highest levels in over a year. Recent data shows 5% broken parboiled rice quoted at $384–389 per tonne and 5% broken white rice at $385–390 per tonne.

Global rice production is expected to decrease slightly, but India remains a strong competitor. Indian rice is at least 10% cheaper than from Thailand and Myanmar, and exports have increased by 13% in value terms.
