India sets new tea pesticide limits

India’s food safety regulator has proposed new maximum residue limits for two insecticides used in tea. The limits are 20 milligrams per kilogram for acetamiprid and 50 milligrams per kilogram for imidacloprid.

The draft is open for public comments until mid-December 2026. The proposed limits are based on international standards and are part of an ongoing review of pesticide residue standards in food.
