Indian tea exports drop in first eight months of 2026

India exported 155.33 million kg of tea from January to August 2026, down from 183 million kg in the same period in 2025. This is a decline of 15.12 per cent or 27.67 million kg.

The unit price of Indian tea increased to Rs 307.42 per kg in 2026 from Rs 298.44 per kg in 2025. Industry stakeholders said the West Asia crisis caused disturbances that led to a decline in tea exports and a diversion of sea routes.
