Tea Board India updates factory approval rules

Tea Board India has simplified the approval process for tea factories, focusing on specialty teas, quality compliance and transparent operations. The revised rules replace earlier factory-registration norms and remove the previous saturated-zone methodology, 30 km radius assessment and Accelerated Scheme.

All applications for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and Registration Certificate (RC) must now be submitted through Tea Board India’s online portal. The NOC allows an applicant to begin and complete factory construction and install machinery, but it is not a guarantee of registration under the Tea (Marketing) Control Order, 2003.
